Abstract provided by Publisher
The aim of this article is to evaluate how computer-mediated communication is used in
the process of becoming and being a minimalist by reconstructing and examining some of
its key aspects. In the first part, I concentrate on the definitions of minimalism composed
by bloggers, in the second part, I analyse the importance of blogs in the minimalist lifestyle,
in the third part, I explore online and offline relationships built by minimalists. Each
section is illustrated with fragments of text from two chosen blogs about minimalism.
Finally, I examine two models of communication – consultation and conversation – that
are essential in the context of minimalism.
