Abstract provided by Publisher
This article explores the process of creating the social sphere in design. The author starts
from transgression in the discourse of design, and examines the papers of contemporary
designers, eg. Victor Papanek, Richard Neutra, Tom Holert. Next, the main points of design
are shown: products, objects, signs and pursuit of experiences, and reconstruction
of identity. Finally, the categories of “mythology”, “fetishes”, “simulacra” are applied to the
interpretation of the meaning of design. The last point of this article aims to define design
and the function of the designer in the virtual age.
